Tennis has the Williams sisters, hockey has the Hughes brothers, and football has the Kelces, but Rowan women’s soccer has circumstances that are even rarer.Identical sophomores Julianna and Olivia Giordano, fraternal juniors Hayley and Jillian Jankowski, and identical sophomores Lauren and Lianna SanFelice make up almost 30% of the team’s 30-player roster, making for an unusual team dynamic on a team that is 11-0-2 this season.
“I really wanted to experience soccer and college and friends on my own,” Lianna said. “Now that she’s here, I feel like we did grow closer, and it’s everything happens for a reason.”“Freshman year was the first year I didn’t play with my sister my entire life,” Jillian said. “It was a big difference and it was so much more fun having her here with me because she’s honestly my best friend.”
Unlike the other two sets of twins, the Giordano sisters had a plan to stay together in college since their high school days. Jillian added that part of their ability to predict each other’s behavior when playing is because of their familiarity with the other’s style.
