Water was expected to be shut off until 4 p.m. while a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crew makes repairs.
A crew was working to repair a water-main break in Wilmington that sent water flooding onto Avalon Boulevard on Tuesday morning, Feb. 14, authorities said.
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was notified of the break about 5:30 a.m. and found a 20-inch cast-iron pipe had burst, spokeswoman Cristina Barrera said. The water was shut off, affecting 48 nearby homes and businesses, Barrera said. The utility estimated water would be restored about 4 p.m. if all goes as expected.“Our crew is working on repairs as quickly and safely as possible,” Barrera said.
