A massive metal ball that showed up on a Japanese beach has many in the science community baffled, including famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.
"I have no idea," Tyson told CNN's Don Lemon on Thursday when he was asked to identify the object."Why does everyone have to know everything at all times?"Lemon jokingly suggested that Tyson, well known for his book The Pluto Files, should know.

The mysterious metal ball measured roughly 5 feet in diameter when it showed up on the coast of Japan's Enshuhama Beach, according to reports.Authorities performed an X-ray of the object, and a bomb squad determined the object was not explosive, a report noted.Many online have speculated and joked about the object's origin, with some saying that it could be a"Dragon Ball" from the popular manga and anime series, Business Insider reported.
"Don't poke it unless you're ready!" Tyson said."But people's imaginations just run wild. And that's fun. That makes great fiction and science-fiction stories, but usually, it's something less interesting than you imagine."
