MANILA Philippines: As the northeast monsoon locally known as 'amihan' ends, the warm-dry season in the country begins, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Friday.Pagasa Administrator Nathaniel Servando clarified during a press briefing that there was no summer in the country as there was only wet and dry.This particular season would last until May, he said.
Servando said the effects of El Niño, which was associated with extreme heat and drought, was also expected to bring drier conditions until May.The public and concerned agencies have been advised to take precautionary measures to mitigate the impact of the warm and dry season on one's health, including risks of heat stroke, according to the state-run weather agency.
