Dallas restaurants are scrambling to get turkeys for the holiday season amidst the nationwide turkey shortage.

A report from the department says that turkey production leading up to Thanksgiving will end up being about 6% lower than the same period in 2021.“We’re terrified,” says Lauran Weiner, owner of Big Al’s and daughter of the late Alvin Plaskoff, who founded the restaurant. “Every year we kind of get a little scare that we won’t have enough turkeys, but it never manifests. It did this year.”
“It’s so hard to find whole turkeys right now. It’s totally affecting us trying to put out holiday menus,” Reaves says.
