November ballot to determine future of San Diego County Water Authority, as well as replace Nathan Fletcher on the Board of Supervisors
San Diego County elections officials have mailed out more than 430,000 notices to registered voters eligible to participate in the November special election, alerting people to the issues and how they may cast their ballots.
Residents of the Fallbrook Public Utilities District and Rainbow Municipal Water District will decide whether to secede from the San Diego County Water Authority, a plan that was approved by the Local Agency Formation Commission in June but is still being challenged in court.County officials are encouraging people to vote by mail. Ballots can be dropped in any mailbox with no postage required.
Early in-person voting begins Saturday, Oct. 28, with vote centers open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Nov. 7, the voting centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Officials at the Fallbrook Public Utilities District and the Rainbow Municipal Water District have sought to withdraw from the county water authority for several years, citing what they have called excessive rates.
