Brockovich gained notoriety in 1993 for speaking out against the Pacific Gas & Electric Company, which was revealed to have been poisoning a small California town's water supply for three decades and led to a record-setting $333 million legal settlement.
Earlier in the week, representatives from Norfolk Southern were absent from a public meeting attended by hundreds of people, with officials saying they were worried about physical threats. Norfolk Southern released a statement last Friday stating that it was"committed to coordinating the cleanup project and paying for its associated costs" and that it wanted to ensure that the town's residents and environment"not only recover but thrive."Department of Health to set up clinic in East Palestine
A medical clinic has opened to analyze the symptoms of residents with a team of chemical exposure experts being deployed to the area.that the Ohio Department of Health would set up a clinic in East Palestine with help from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and federal officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Health and Human Services in response to resident health concerns.
