Visitation and funeral service details for Harris County deputy John H. Coddou III, who tragically lost his life after being struck by a truck on the Grand Parkway.
There will be a visitation for Coddou on April 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston. A funeral service will be held at Second Baptist Church, 19449 Katy Freeway, Houston, on May 1 at 1 p.m. Following the service will be a graveside service at Forest Park Southwest Cemetery located at 9040 FM 395, Richmond.
He parked his HCSO vehicle on the left shoulder of the road with the right side of the vehicle partially blocking the number one northbound lane while he investigated the crash, the release stated. The release stated the driver “engaged in a faulty evasive action” to avoid crashing into the deputy’s vehicle and drove into the grassy median dividing the northbound and southbound lanes of the Grand Parkway.
“But that wasn’t who John was. By all accounts, he was a public servant through and through,” Gonzalez said.
