Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell has named a starting quarterback heading into training camp.
The Minnesota Vikings got their presumed franchise quarterback of the future when they traded up to select Michigan's J. J. McCarthy with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. However, despite believing that McCarthy will be the starter of the future, head coach Kevin O'Connell has already named the starting quarterback for the team heading into training camp — and it's not McCarthy.
I told all four of those guys, 'Look, depth charts are great and it's great to understand where I am at today but that will really mean nothing about the future.' That'll be nothing about a week or two out, and most importantly we played four of em last year.'O'Connell did not shut down the idea that McCarthy, Mullens, or Hall could not start in the future, but Darnold is the guy right now.
