Exclusive surveillance video obtained by KOMO News shows what led to a deadly officer-involved shooting in Kent on Tuesday afternoon.Officers said they chased after the suspect following a report that he and another man ditched a stolen truck inside a random driveway a mile away.
Home security video shows the incident started when a Ford F-250 slowly backed into Johnston's driveway. Moments later, the footage shows a man hopping out of the Ford truck and then break into a vehicle on Johnston's property, all in an apparent case of gas theft. It's at this point Johnston said he took notice.
According to Johnston, the suspects insisted they were out of gas and needed directions to a nearby gas station. Yet he said it was clear to him that their truck was stolen. Under Johnston's directions, both men calmly walked away to a nearby Chevron store. Johnston then called 911. At the gas station, moments later, police confronted both men. That's when they said one of them ran away.
