A security guard for Spurs rookie center Victor Wembanyama hit pop star Britney Spears in the face on Wednesday night in Las Vegas and knocked her to the ground, according to a police report filed by Spears.
The incident happened at the ARIA Hotel on Wednesday night as Spears and her husband allegedly approached Wembanyama, the first pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, because she is a fan of the French phenom.
When she tapped Wembanyama’s back, Damian Smith, who is the Director of Team Security for the Spurs, was accused of backhanding Spears in the face and knocked her glasses off.Smith reportedly apologized to Spears for not recognizing her. Spears and her team filed the police report against Smith. According to TMZ, she was scheduled to meet with Las Vegas police on Thursday morning.
Wembanyama was in Las Vegas as he is preparing for his NBA Summer League debut, which is expected to be on Friday night vs. the Hornets.
