Marc-Edouard Vlasic scores in his 1,200th NHL game as the San Jose Sharks beat the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center.
Marc-Edouard Vlasic held the puck in his hand as on-ice officials and the NHL’s Situation Room tried to determine whether the goal he thought he had scored came as a result of a distinct kicking motion.
Vlasic’s goal, his first of the season, tied the game 2-2 at the 15:53 mark of the second period. Alexander Barabanov then gave the Sharks the lead for good as he scored his sixth of the season with 1:26 to go before intermission. Timo Meier and Evgeny Svechnikov also scored as the Sharks ended a three-game losing streak and captured their second win in the last eight games.
Oskar Lindblom and Logan Couture also had two assists for the Sharks , who next play on Friday in Anaheim. Vlasic, the Sharks’ second-round pick in 2005, is now in his 17th season with the team. He is second on the Sharks’ all-time games played list, trailing only Patrick Marleau, who played 1,607 games with San Jose over 21 years.
