The fire grew to 10 to 20 acres around 5 p.m., according to Los Angeles County Fire dispatch. It was first reported around 4:15 p.m., however, no possible cause was immediately known, officials said.
The fire was reported to be burning near Glenn Miller Park, at 205 Melcanyon Rd., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. It was reported to be burning north of Brookridge and Opal Canyon roads and there was no threat to nearby residential structures, sheriff’s officials said. As of 5 p.m., both agencies were working to determine who would lead the effort against the blaze, Los Angeles County fire officials said.
