Families, friends mourn the death of a budding artist in Uvalde, killed in May 24 school masscre

Alithia, 10, was one of the 19 students killed in the onslaught. Two fourth-grade teachers, Irma Garcia and Eva Mireles, also were gunned down.More than 50 cars, trucks and SUVs crowded the church lot. Family and friends wore jeans, button-down shirts and sundresses as the temperature climbed to 100 degrees.
As the funeral began, officers identifying themselves as Bexar County sheriff’s deputies told reporters and photojournalists to walk farther from the church.described her as a smart child who “was very reliable, always wanted to take care of everyone, and was a role model to her siblings.”the day after the massacre: “Why … why hurt these little innocent kids. Finding out that my baby cousin gained her wings was just a heartbreaking moment. I hate seeing my family suffer.
