In four years at the helm, Hallmark has made the circumstances work, leading UTSA to the bubble of the NCAA Tournament last season and setting a record-breaking trajectory for 2023. Sizing up the team’s success so far in 2023, Hallmark sees a group that wouldn’t look out of place at the 24,000-seat Charles Schwab Field Omaha for the College World Series.
UTSA won 38 games to finish one shy of a program record, and the team’s 19 conference wins were also one short of the record. Despite being the No. 5 seed in the C-USA Tournament, the Roadrunners reached their first championship game since 2014. “We talk about it all the time. We definitely play with a chip on our shoulder,” pitcher Luke Malone said. “We know that feeling, and we take every game seriously.”
