Speaking at Texas High School Coaches Association Convention, Texas’ Chris Del Conte...
They sat one chair apart, not because they are the athletic directors at two of the biggest brands in college football and heated rivals, but “because we are Italians.”Oklahoma’s Joe Castiglione wore a crimson jacket.
After an hourlong panel discussion at the Texas High School Coaches Association Convention, Del Conte and Castiglione offered no hints on a timeline to exit the Big 12, except to say both schools are committed to remaining in the league until 2025. Incoming Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark said at the league’s kickoff event in Arlington last week that “anything is on the table” and that conversations with UT and OU would be forthcoming when he officially begins the job Aug. 1.
Del Conte and Castiglione have yet to meet in person with Yormark but have spoken to him on video conference calls that included the other Big 12 athletic directors. Additionally, the two ADs have attended league meetings in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Irving in recent months.
