University of Texas at Austin's Faculty Council released a new report Wednesday objecting to the administration's response to pro-Palestine protests on campus.

University of Texas at Austin Professor Dr. James Galbraith says he was out at the South Lawn on April 24th when Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers and university officials broke up a pro-Palestinian protest on campus. He says the response struck him as odd. "The institutional rules, which are, in fact, very carefully written and very detailed, are intended to preserve both academic freedom and the orderly functioning of the university." Dr. Galbraith said.The report outlined several recommendations for the future. Dr. Galbraith says perhaps the most important recommendation is that the university doesn't ban gatherings in advance, which he says there's no prior basis for and it should only be done under extreme circumstances.

"There weren't very many people wearing masks, but to the extent that they were, a number of people were wearing medical masks, which, of course, people do all the time in all kinds of settings." Dr. Galbraith said.
