Americans, particularly younger Americans, are less happy, according to a new report from Gallup.

But older people are at least 50 places higher in the happiness rankings than their younger counterparts in both the U.S. and Canada. About half of adults in America reported experiencing loneliness, with some of the highest rates among young people, according to the surgeon general’s advisory. The decline in time spent with friends was starkest for young people, down nearly 70% over the last couple of decades.
