First responders arrived along the green banks of the White River to find a man standing atop a capsized fishing boat. His passenger was missing.

At around 7 p.m. Thursday, first responders arrived along the green banks of the White River in the 2000 block of S. White River Parkway E. Drive. There they found one man standing atop a capsized fishing boat. He told firefighters another person in the boat had jumped into the river but not yet resurfaced.Neither of the men were wearing life jackets, according to a news release.
He was later identified as Martez Lamont Proctor-Cortez, 32, according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
