A 9-year-old girl from Dallas was killed in a car accident Saturday in northwest Texas, officials said.
Molly Mullens was in the car on U.S. Highway 70 with her parents, her two older brothers and the family dog when a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction lost control and hit them head-on, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The preliminary report said it was raining and roads were wet when the accident occurred around 6:10 p.m. outside Vernon, about 190 miles from Dallas.
“Molly exemplified joy and kindness in our school. Her enthusiasm for life and learning was noticeable, and she had a remarkable way of making each day brighter for everyone around her,” said University Park Principal Kim Banuelos. “Molly’s absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.”
Public safety officials said the family dog, Allie, initially ran away after the accident, but the Goldendoodle has since been found and returned to the family., Breaking News Reporter.
