The Philippines judiciary has presented before the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland the efforts being undertaking by the government to enhance and protect women’s rights.
The Philippines is the first country in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to sign CEDAW in July 1980. The treaty was ratified in August 1981. It serves as a joint forum for dialogue on issues of common interest and a mechanism for effective coordination and sharing of information in support of the planning and the implementation of joint initiatives among justice sector institutions, the SC said.
They also said that under the judiciary’s Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022- 2027 , the SC will commission two separate studies on Feminism in the Judiciary and on Gender Representation and Mobility in the Judiciary as component programs.
