No. 5-seed UH to face South Dakota as 1 of 6 Texas teams in NCAA volleyball tournament
The Cougars wrapped up the regular season as one of the hottest teams in the nation, winning 20 of the last 21 matches. A UH win would send the Cougars to the second round against the Creighton-Auburn winner.
“We’re not going in there hoping we win in the first round,” UH coach David Rehr said. “We’re going in there trying to get to the Sweet 16.” Rice, the Conference USA champion, will be making its fifth straight NCAA appearance. A first-round win by the Owls would set up a match against the No. 4 seed Baylor -Stephen F. Austin winner.
