The U.S. vaccination drive is slowing as COVID-19 cases decline across the country, particularly in areas of low demand at the outset, according to The Associated Press.

About 81% of eligible Americans have received at least one shot, and about 69% are fully vaccinated, according to the“People are just over it. They’re tired of it,” Judy Smith, the area administrator for a 12-county public health district in northwestern Alabama, told the AP.

The drop in demand is especially evident in conservative areas of the country, the AP reported. On most days in Idaho, the number of people statewide who receive their first shot rarely surpasses 500. “People heard more stories about, well, the Omicron’s not that bad,” Kathy Emmons, executive director of the health department, told the AP.

In Pennsylvania, health clinics in Philadelphia are offering $100 for people to get fully vaccinated, according. The incentive has drawn some people but not large crowds, the newspaper reported. Citywide, about 74% of ages 12 and older are fully vaccinated.
