Joyce, who is on the House Ethics Committee, attributes Gaetz's actions to an Ethics Committee probe of Gaetz.
Joyce says Gaetz is in a group of GOP Congress members who rely on “hundreds of thousands of $25 donors” for their campaign money, so they have to put on a public show of “taking on the world.”
“I just think it’s disingenuous to go tell people that you’re doing all this stuff for them, when it’s not true, it doesn’t change the outcomes, doesn’t do anything to move the needle,” he said of Gaetz’s grandstanding.he’s never asked McCarthy to interfere with it. “Eventually, the lying has to come to an end and the votes are going to start on a motion to vacate,” Gaetz said of his potential effort to oust McCarthy. “I certainly hope that, instead of that path, the speaker comes into compliance on term limits, balanced budgets, and single-subject spending bills.”
