Dan Crenshaw took a big lead in early voting over a trio of GOP primary challengers who sought to tackle the Houston Republican from the right.
Crenshaw drew more than 70 percent of the vote in Harris and Montgomery counties, a lead that would put him on track to win the four-way primary race outright. Jameson Ellis was in second place, trailing Crenshaw by at least 60 percentage points in each county. Ellis had argued Crenshaw wasn’t conservative enough for the district, which was redrawn to be much redder. He and other challengers in the race hammered Crenshaw for saying the 2020 election results were legitimate.if they think the 2020 election was stolen and has criticized “grifters” in the Republican party.
