A judge has suspended the executions of four federal death-row inmates that were scheduled to begin next month, effectively blocking the Trump administration’s plan to restart the use of the death penalty after a 16-year hiatus

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan of the District of Columbia issued the order late Wednesday, saying the executions would deny the inmates the ability to pursue legal challenges to the use of lethal injection.
