A federal appeals court cleared the way for the Biden administration to end a covid-related policy that allows officials to expel migrants from U.S. borders. Over 2.4 million migrants have been expelled since Trump imposed the order in 2020.
The decision means the policy known as Title 42 started by the Trump administration, will end Dec. 21, unless the Supreme Court intervenes. The GOP officials had signaled in court records that they would appeal to the Supreme Court.for immigration advocates in their quest to fully reopen the borders to asylum seekers who have been expelled without a chance to plead their cases,
The Department of Homeland Security referred questions to the Justice Department, which had no immediate comment.
