U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Kory Wade was reported missing on the lake at 2 p.m. on June 14. Authorities had only said he was a jet skier in initial reports, but are now confirming that Wade had been conducting a training exercise "for supporting jump operations.""We are saddened to confirm the death of Staff Sgt. Kory Wade, whose body was located following an exhaustive search at Roosevelt Lake," said Col. Scott Mills, 355th Wing commander in a statement.
"Our thoughts are with Sergeant Wade’s family, friends and teammates during this difficult time," he continued. "Davis-Monthan Air Force Base leaders are postured to provide comfort and assistance to our community as we navigate this tragedy together." The Gila County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Air Force and Border Patrol drone operators all worked to find Wade.A search and rescue operation remains ongoing at Roosevelt Lake, according to officials with the Gila County Sheriff's Office, after a person was reportedly missing on the lake during the afternoon of June 14.
