The Giants are down to Tommy DeVito at quarterback.
New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been ruled out of the team's Sunday afternoon game against the New York Jets with a rib injury suffered with 7:41 left in the second quarter of the game.
Taylor was injured while rolling out of the pocket, trying to throw the ball. He lost his grip on the ball but was able to recover it. He then tried to scramble before being brought down hard to the ground by Jets defensive lineman Quincy Jefferson and linebacker C.J. Mosley. Taylor was down on the field for several minutes in obvious pain before jumping up and running off the field and straight to the Giants' locker room for further evaluation. He was later ruled out, and the Giants announced that he was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.The Giants are now down to Tommy DeVito as their lone remaining quarterback on the roster. Starter Daniel Jones is inactive with a neck injury. DeVito was elevated from the Giants practice squad.
After the game, the Giants provided an update on Taylor, saying that he was taken to Hackensack Medical Center for further examination and testing where it was determined he suffered an injury to his rib cage. Taylor will remain in HUMC overnight for observation.
