Jersey City police investigate on Garfield Avenue at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, after a man who had been shot crashed into a tree. Two people were shot in Jersey City Saturday night in an incident that ended with one of the victims crashing his car into a tree while trying to flee.
Shots rang out just after 6:30 p.m. in the area of Harmon Street and Randolph Avenue, police said in radio transmissions after blood and shell casings were later found in the area. The man who crashed had been shot in the chest, police said in radio transmissions. The other victim, who was taken by private vehicle to the Jersey City Medical Center, was shot in the buttocks, according to the transmissions.
