Five positive tests might not seem like much. “Well, it’s still pretty early because usually it starts to peak around August even into September. So, the fact that we're seeing an increase in West Nile virus cases gives me some pause for concern,” said Dr. Peter Hotez , a professor of pediatrics and molecular virology at the Baylor College of Medicine.in the state of Texas. Most people who get West Nile might not even realize it.
“Let me give you an example, the first thing I like to do in the morning is I had to get my steps in, I like to take a long walk around the neighborhood and even though its already hot and warm and humid in Houston in the summer, I still have a hooded sweatshirt, baseball cap and sweat pants and socks and sneakers,” Dr. Hotez said.
Williamson County will spray for mosquitoes near Geneva and Edwards Park in Old Town. The county says the chemicals will not harm humans but suggests you stay inside if you have any concerns about it this weekend.
