A 6-year-old Turkish girl was rescued after having been trapped under rubble for 178 hours.
The girl, Miray, was recovered from the city of Adiyaman in southern Turkey, the BBC reported, over a week after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake and its aftershocks devastated the region.Video showed workers celebrating as they pulled the girl from the rubble. The rescue is likely to be among the last as the deadline for how long humans can survive without water approaches.
Rettungskräfte haben in der türkischen Provinz Adıyaman die 6-jährige Miray 178 Stunden nach dem Erdbeben aus den Trümmern eines eingestürzten Hauses lebend rausgeholt. Durch den unermüdlichen Einsatz vieler Helfer gibt es auch acht Tage nach dem Beben noch Hoffnungsschimmer. pic.twitter.com/MgBAAGxnqlHowever, the rescue at 178 hours surpassed some experts' estimates as to how long locals could survive.
Despite the rescues, the death toll from the deadliest earthquake in over a decade is over 36,000, CNN reported, with the true total likely much higher.
