President Donald Trump said Monday he called Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and told him he'd done a"good job" as the central bank has taken a number of steps to cushion the blow to the economy from the spread of the coronavirus.
The Fed has slashed its benchmark interest rate to zero and announced it would purchase an unlimited amount of Treasurys and securities tied to residential and commercial real estate to ward off a credit crunch. Speaking at the White House, Trump said the Fed isn't finished and has more"arrows" in its quiver. Trump has been highly critical of Powell in the past.
