President Donald Trump on Sunday reiterated his threat to target Iranian cultural heritage sites should their forces strike American targets in retaliation for the killing of Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran's Quds Force.

"They're allowed to kill our people. They're allowed to torture and maim our people. They're allowed to use roadside bombs and blow up our people. And we're not allowed to touch their cultural sites? It doesn't work that way," the president said on Sunday. "As you know, the Geneva Conventions outlaw attacks on cultural objects and places of worship. Our own DOD war manual discusses the protection of cultural property," ABC News host George Stephanopoulos said to Pompeo during his appearance on"We'll behave lawfully. We'll behave inside the system. We always have and we always will, George. You know that," Pompeo responded.
