Truck leaking sewage causes multiple wrecks on I-95 in Connecticut, driver arrested.
A truck driver was arrested in Connecticut Monday night after his trailer dropped sewage waste across I-95 causing at least 11 vehicles to crash out, police said.
An assortment of wrecks, including a truck sliding into parked, unoccupied state police vehicles, a motorcyclist losing control, and other cars sliding out and hitting each other, were scattered across the northbound side of I-95 in Bridgeport at around 10:30 p.m. Monday night.The crashes were caused by a tractor trailer's "unsecured load leaking human waste" that caused "slick conditions," police said.
Police believe the driver of the leaky trailer, Shaky Joseph, was aware of the mess the load was leaving but continued to drive anyways. Authorities say he exited the interstate and continued to travel on local streets. Joseph's employer managed to get in contact with him and tell him to pull off the road and wait for troopers to arrive. Once they got there, state police arrested Joseph and charged him with 12 counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree, one count of reckless driving, and one count of operating a vehicle without the proper load cover. The driver was released after posting a $25,000 bond.
The mess shuttered I-95's northbound side in the affected area for three hours, police said.
