A low-pressure area (LPA) off Davao del Norte has strengthened into a tropical depression named 'Querubin,' bringing rains and gusty winds to several regions in the Philippines.
MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) off Davao del Norte has developed into a tropical depression named ' Querubin ,' the state-run weather agency said on Tuesday.Nathaniel Servando, Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration ( Pagasa ) administrator, said the tropical depression was estimated some 215 kilometers east-southeast of Davao City.
Moving south-southwestward slowly, Querubin has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55kph, the national weather agency said.The tropical cyclone is now directly affecting Davao Oriental where rains with gusty winds could be experienced, Pagasa said in its 4 p.m. advisory.It also affects Eastern Visayas, Caraga and the rest of Davao Region where overcast skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms would prevail, it added.Its trough, according to Servando, is affecting the rest of Visayas and of Mindanao where similar weather conditions would be likely in the next 24 hours.Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon locally known as 'amihan' has been affecting Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains would be possible, the state weather bureau said
