WHAT WE KNOW:
PHOENIX — A traffic stop led to a shooting involving DPS troopers Wednesday night near I-17 and Buckeye Road.
Officials say troopers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle because it was not yielding and at some point, the vehicle crashed.That was when the person allegedly shot at troopers and troopers returned fire. At some point, the person shot at another trooper in a vehicle, but that trooper didn't not shoot back.Officials say the person hid in a storage shed in the backyard of a house.
The family inside the house was escorted out in order for officials to go inside and search. Officials say the family is ok.One officer was injured during this incident, but officials say that it was not from gunfire. The officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.North and southbound ramps to Grant Street are closed, according to ADOT.— Arizona DOT August 11, 2022 No other information has been released at this time.
