Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and White House economic adviser Brian Deese are not part of a planned shake-up after the November elections, the White House said.

President Joe Biden’s press secretary told reporters that while the White House is planning for transitions, the post-midterm reorganization does not include the two economic advisers.“Neither Secretary Yellen or Brian Deese are part of those plans,” Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Wednesday.

Axios reported late Tuesday that White House officials are eyeing Yellen’s departure as Biden struggles to overcome voter sentiment on the economy. A decision is still in the early stages, however, with the elections likely to factor into consideration, sources told the outlet.Deese, too, said he had “no plans to leave” while speaking at the Economic Club of Washington, D.C., on Tuesday.“I’ve got my head down, and I’m certainly fully, fully absorbed in the work we’re doing,” Deese added.

The report said Deese, the director of Biden's National Economic Council could leave in the new year.
