LSU’s Tre’ Morgan was doing anything he could to get the Tigers to the College World Series final.
In a win-or-go-home game against top-ranked Wake Forest, the first baseman made an incredible acrobatic play to save a run before Tommy White’s walk-off homer in the 11th inning sealed a 2-0 win for LSU.
With the game in a scoreless tie at the top of the eighth inning, the Demon Deacons put runners on the corners with just one out. Wake Forest shortstop Marek Houston looked to break the ice with a push bunt down the first base line, but Morgan — a 2022 All-SEC Defensive Team selection — wasn’t having any of it.
The first baseman charged in on the chopper, fielding it about 40 feet from home plate before he quickly short-arm shoved it to home plate as he fell to the ground. His quick throw was on the money, and he nailed second baseman Justin Johnson, who tried to dive in head-first.WHAT A PLAY TO SAVE A RUN‼️
