Travis County constables have joined forces with the DEA on their national Take Back initiative. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., residents can drop off expired, unused or unwanted prescription medication at five locations to stop drug abuse.
AUSTIN, Texas — Travis County is hosting a drug initiative to stop the misuse of prescription medication. The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day offers people a responsible way to dispose of prescription medication that’s expired, unused or not wanted.
Travis County constables have joined forces with the Drug Enforcement Administration on their national Take Back initiative. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, residents can visit the following drop-off locations to safely discard the medication. Austin, TX 78721 10409 Burnet Rd. Ste. 150 8656 B West Highway 71 Ste. 132 4011 McKinney Falls Pkwy. Ste. 1100 1003 Guadalupe St. No need to worry about being questioned, as remaining anonymous is up to your discretion.
The mission is to educate the public on the potential abuse of medications, as it’s a growing national problem. According to officials, the misuse and improper disposal of medications is causing an issue in local water supplies. For everyday drop-off options, residents can go to the Travis County Constable Pct. 5 office between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
