Local officials rescued on Thursday, Feb. 23, this Philippine hawk-eagle after it accidentally got entangled in a fishing net in Claveria town, Cagayan province.
TUGUEGARAO CITY — A Philippine hawk-eagle that was entangled in a fishing net was rescued Thursday in Claveria town, Cagayan province. In an interview, Claveria Mayor Lucille Angelus Guillen-Yapo said fisherman Felipe Burigsay Sr. was inspecting his net in the river in Barangay Mabnang when he saw the eagle stuck in it.Citing a report from Burigsay, Yapo said the eagle tried to prey on a carp inside the net.
The rescued animal was immediately turned over to the Claveria environment and natural resources office.
