The head of the Philippines' OTS responded to the viral video of K-pop boy band ENHYPEN being screened at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Feb. 5 by saying they have enough male employees to frisk male passengers.
“Unprofessional,” “MIAA hear us” and “do something” trended on Twitter.
“As much as possible, male to male ang magco-conduct ng pat down, female to female. But in some areas lalo na sa probinsya, we allow babae to pat down male passengers but not male OTS personnel to pat down female. Pero in Manila International Airport we have enough male personnel to conduct pat down doon sa mga lalaking mga pasahero ,” he said.
“The management is currently investigating the matter to determine the extent of violation committed based on existing rules and security screening protocols if any, and impose appropriate administrative sanctions, should it be necessary.”
