Transport groups claimed that the first day of their planned week-long transport strike on Monday paralyzed public transportation in Metro Manila and other areas in the country, government agencies said that the strike hardly made a dent.

In a press briefing at the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board , Technical Division chief Joel Bolano said the transport strike affected only 10 percent of routes in the National Capital Region .'As of 11 a.m., in Metro Manila, we have only at least 10 percent po ang affected na areas or routes,' Bolano said.Still, rescue buses were deployed in areas affected by the transport strike, he said.'We haven't seen a passenger buildup until now,' Bolano said.

He reported similar situation in other regions, particularly in Region 4A.'Next to NCR is Region 4A but they're only at moderate code. As for the rest of the country as of 11 a.m. it is at normal operations,' he said.In total, he said about 5 percent of transport routes nationwide have been affected by the strike.LTFRB chairman Teofilo Guadiz 3rd appealed to transport groups to end their protest.'We're willing to adjust to your needs.
