Three transport groups over the weekend called on the government to remove the cap on the number of motorcycle taxis across the country, citing what they described as poor mass transportation infrastructure.
In separate statements, CitizenWatch Philippines; Bantay Konsyumer, Kalsada, Kuryente ; and The Passenger Forum said lifting the limit on motorcycle taxis would serve commuting Filipinos and provide livelihoods to qualified drivers.
“Because they are unregulated, the drivers of habal-habal do not have proper training and they do not have accident insurance,” he said.
