Updated: Apr. 07, 2022, 7:12 a.m. |A bill to ban medical treatments for transgender minors to help them transition could be up for a vote on what is expected to be the last day of Alabama’s legislative session Thursday.
House Speaker Mac McCutcheon said after the House adjourned late Wednesday afternoon that he was not sure whether the bill would be on the agenda Thursday but said he believes there is strong support for it. “The House has been working on that bill,” Reed said. “We’ve encouraged them. It’s a very important piece of legislation in the Senate. And so we’re working constantly on issues that are very important to them and the issues that are very important to us. And so we’re working collectively to make sure that those items are understood by both chambers.”
