The collision occurred as the train was heading south at 7:15 a.m. Friday at the Strawberry City Road crossing, adjacent to U.S. 281 north of Pleasanton, according to Union Pacific. Two people who were in the vehicle died at the scene, authorities said. They were not identified immediately. The children, one of whom appeared to be an infant, were airlifted to a hospital in San Antonio, Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward said.
