DESPITE issues over maritime boundaries, the Philippines government should “do better communication” with Chinese investors as China is still the Philippines’s biggest trading partner, according to the president of the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. .
The Philexport chief noted that China is the Philippines’s biggest trading partner now. In fact, he said, if Greater China, which also encompasses Hong Kong and Macau, will be taken into account as among the Philippines’s trading partners, China still accounts for the bigger share compared with the country’s trade with the United States and Japan combined.
The Philexport chief, who’s also honorary chairman of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry , said some of the potential big China industrial investors who were keen to invest in the Philippines after the state visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. became “jittery” or paused their inquiries with the PCCI following the recent Ayungin Shoal incident.
