Central Catholic secured its second straight TAPPS Class 6A championship trophy in boys track and field with 142 points. Houston St. Thomas was second with 138.

Gerardo Mejia won the long jump and 110 hurdles and ran a leg in the Buttons' 400 relay with Christian Villarreal, Isai Prezas and Jimmy Birch. Prezas also won the 400 dash. Nathan Morales won the 3,200 run and was part of the Buttons' 1,600 relay with Villarreal, Cairo Prezas and Noah Fernandez.

She told the class of 2023 on Saturday how she was a student there when she was recruited by a local television. At the time, she was working at her father's store, presenting the weekend news at a Black radio station, and attending classes.
