NASCAR legends Dale Jarrett and Dale Earnhardt Jr. took WTTW News correspondent Paris Schutz around the specially designed track that weaves in and out of Grant Park and provides some iconic views for spectators. NASCAR officials said they’re expecting 100,000 visitors to witness the historic event. It won’t come cheap, however. Tickets start at $269 for general admission, $353 for enhanced general admission and $465 for premium seats for the weekend, which will also include a festival and concerts.
The race has not been without its controversy. Former Mayor Lori Lightfoot struck the deal before City Council had a chance to weigh in, and groups like Friends of the Parks have a few concerns about how this will all go.
