The jersey design is a replica of the Uvalde High Coyotes, paying tribute to the community that lost 19 children and two teachers in a shooting May 24 at Robb Elementary School. The Missions haven’t dropped a series since the second week of the season, besting the Hooks last week despite shuffling through 20 roster moves since June 6. The week started with six players moving to the COVID-19 list and the promotion of standout center fielder Esteury Ruiz to Triple-A, leaving San Antonio without the Texas League’s leader in stolen bases and on-base percentage .
During Sunday’s start, Lawson struck out eight batters — his most in a game since April 26, 2019 — including a run of five straight across the second and third innings.
